U.S. Department of State Lifts Travel Ban to Foreign Countries with Diminished Warnings
Today, the US Department of State lifted the strict travel advisories put in place on March 19, 2020. The entire world surely isn’t okayed for travel but a good portion of those nations previously set at Level 4 are now at Level 3.
The following chart and map shows you which countries are still at Level 4 (Do not travel) and which are at level 3 (Reconsider travel) and level 2 (Exercise increased caution).
Their advisory on March 31, 2020 set forth a Global Health Advisory Travel Warning Level 4: Do Not Travel
“The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. In countries where commercial departure options remain available, U.S. citizens who live in the United States should arrange for immediate return to the United States, unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period. “

On August 6, in close coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Department of State lifted the Global Level 4 Health Advisory. The Global Advisory, initially put in place on March 19, 2020, advised U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.
With health and safety conditions improving in some countries and potentially deteriorating in others, the Department is returning to our previous system of country-specific levels of travel advice (with Levels from 1-4 depending on country-specific conditions), in order to give travelers detailed and actionable information to make informed travel decisions. This will also provide U.S. citizens more detailed information about the current status in each country. We continue to recommend U.S. citizens exercise caution when traveling abroad due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic.
