On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Mexican Independence Day Parade marched down Madison Avenue in the Big Apple, honoring its independence from Spain and celebrating Mexican culture and heritage. Tens of thousands of spectators lined the NYC streets on either side of the route as over 2,000 participants marched in the parade. Also on hand were celebrities as well as bands on foot and on floats, performers and dancers, and many marching groups.
Marching as well were NYC Mayor Eric Adams alongside Consul General of Mexico in NY Jorge Isla Lopez, alongside many other notable people.
Even the Naked Cowboy Robert John Burck and his wife Patricia Cruz (born in Mexico City) were there, each carrying their own guitar.
The thousands of Mexican flags everywhere, with a grand abundance of color, went hand in hand with the enormous joy and enthusiasm put forth by everyone. It was a pleasure to have been a witness to it all.
