Wavertree Ship Opened up for Free Self Tours in September + Video
Dates Available for Self Tours: September 5, 6, 12, 19 and 26
The South Street Seaport Museum recently announced how the Wavertree ship would be opened to the general public for free access.
Located on Pier 16, is the 1885 Wavertree tall ship. For five days in September its gangway will be accessible to those wishing to board this historic floating landmark.
Yours truly was allowed to tour the vessel this past Sunday, and what a treat it was. I’ve always had a soft spot for such historical sites and this one did not let me down.
Panoramic views from the quarterdeck offered me new perspectives of the surrounding area which included the East River, Brooklyn Bridge and other sights, near and far.
It’s the sort of experience that’ll delight the photographer in any one.
But that’s not all.
You’ll learn plenty about the ship’s history while on board.
Visiting the Wavertree is a treat for the young and old.
