Paula Crown’s #Solotogether Project Comes To Rockefeller Center®

March 2 – May 21

Resilience will be on view at the top of the Channel Gardens,
(Fifth Avenue entrance)
Solo Together installation will be at the Rink Level Gallery
(610 5th Ave at Rink Level)

Artist Paula Crown’s two part-exhibition project #solotogether, featuring the bronze sculpture Resilience at the Channel Gardens and artwork in the Rink Level Gallery, will be on view at Rockefeller Center from March 2nd to May 21st.

The bronze sculpture Resilience, which will be displayed at the top of the Channel Gardens, alludes to the devastating environmental impact of single-use plastics. The sculpture extends Crown’s intention to memorialize the collective suffering experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, reminding us of humankind’s resilience and innate ability to transfer energy even through the most mundane of objects.

The second part of the exhibition, Solo Together, will be on view in the Rink Level Gallery. The exhibition will feature an extensive investigation of the familiar crushed solo cup through a dynamic cast sculpture floor installation; a new suite of photographs; a newly recorded audio work; and a site-specific wall piece, allowing the viewer to experience the breadth and depth of Crown’s artistic meditations on this everyday object.

Curated by Craig Drennen, #solotogether continues Crown’s ongoing artistic series and expands her interest in the human impulse to produce a mark on the world. #solotogether is an exploration of communication and accountability within the global collective consciousness; the sculptures endeavor to create connections, provoke pause, and offer critical examination of how we shape the world and how in turn the world defines us.

Activations to take place throughout the run of the exhibit include panel discussions, performances, book signing, children’s event, and more.
