NYS COVID-19 Daily Positivity Rate Nears 4 Percent as Deaths Continue to Climb

Daily Positivity Rate in New York on the Cusp of Four Percent While Deaths Reach 18 Twice in One Week

In a continuance of its rise since mid-July, the daily COVID-19 positivity rate in the state of New York has reached 3.94 % as the daily death count climbed to a high of 18 for the second time in the past week.

Such rises in state’s COVID related metrics mirror that which the entire country has been experiencing due to the many who’ve chosen to not get vaccinated against the virus.

“Those who remain unvaccinated leave themselves and their loved ones exposed to the Delta variant making its way across the country,” Governor Cuomo said. “We’ve come so far and we can’t afford to go backward on the progress we’ve made in our fight against the virus. The vaccine is safe, effective, easily accessible and the best way to keep your community safe. If you haven’t already, get yours today.”

Yesterday, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio issued Emergency Executive Order 225 mandating proof of vaccination for anyone wishing to partake in “Indoor Entertainment, Recreation, Dining and Fitness Settings”.

Following are charts demonstrating, respectively, the daily positivity rate for NY followed by the number of Coronavirus related deaths.
