NYC Pride March 2022 Takes NYC By Storm With Huge Numbers of Participants

NYC LGBTQ+ Pride March is Back this Year of 2022!

Story and videography by Luis Diaz

The 53rd Annual Pride March took place this past Sunday on June 26, 2022 with innumerable crowds participating as well as cheering on marchers from the sidelines; celebrating LGBTQ+ pride in honor of the Stonewall uprising of 1969.

Sam Champion of Local News ABC NY was there hosting from a stage near the beginning of the march.

This year Ts Madison, Punkie Johnson, Schuyler Bailar, Dominique Morgan, and Chase Strangio served as Grand Marshals for the March which began on 25th Street and Fifth Avenue and wound its way down through the Village, passing by the Stonewall National Monument and continuing to 16th Street and 7th Avenue in Chelsea.

Having not taken place since 2019, this year’s march was a welcomed experience by most all who were there. Unmistakable from the huge throngs lining the streets was the excitement and joy of the day. Yours truly has been at previous marches here in NYC and this year’s was unlike what I’ve witnessed in years past. Great were the numbers at the very beginning of the march. I could not imagine how much more were awaiting the procession in the heart of the village farther south.

Also present, were local politicians who showed their support for the LGBTQ+ movement. They included NY Attorney General Letitia James, Senator Chuck Schumer, NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine and others.
