The South Bronx Culture Festival (SBCF) 2025 returns with Play it Forward, a three-day celebration of music, dance, and art that highlights the cultural vibrancy of the South Bronx. This year’s theme focuses on creative play as a source of joy and inspiration for the next generation of artists. Headlining performances include Eddie Palmieri & La Perfecta II, Nelson González All Star Band, and Bronx Banda featuring Arturo O’Farrill. The festival will also showcase a diverse lineup of artists and performers spanning hip hop, Latin jazz, and Afro-Caribbean traditions, with co-hosts Rhina Valentin and Jonathan Calixto guiding audiences through the festivities.
Presented free to the public, SBCF 2025 offers outdoor performances, dance showcases, and interactive art activities, running from May 30 to June 1 at Father Gigante Plaza in front of St. Athanasius Church. The event continues its mission of nurturing young artists, preserving Bronx history through music and dance, and fostering collaborations with local organizations. Festival-goers can also enjoy artisan vendors, hands-on art workshops, and family-friendly activities provided by partners like The POINT CDC, Hunts Point Community Partnership, and the New York Public Library. For those unable to attend in person, the festival will be broadcast by BronxNet Television.
This year’s SBCF is made possible with support from SEBCO Inc., the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, the Howard Gilman Foundation, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, among others. As part of Carnegie Hall’s Nuestros Sonidos festival, this event continues to uplift the South Bronx community through the power of the arts. With last year’s festival drawing over 5,000 attendees, SBCF 2025 promises to be another unforgettable experience.
