Museum Mile Festival 2025: NYC’s Ultimate Cultural Block Party Returns
On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, New York City will once again transform a treasured stretch of Fifth Avenue into the Museum Mile Festival, a free, open-air celebration of art, music, culture, and community. For one magical evening, from 82nd Street to 105th Street, traffic disappears and the sidewalks fill with thousands of locals and visitors strolling, exploring, and celebrating some of the city’s finest cultural institutions.
Fifth Avenue has long been called “Museum Mile” for good reason. With a concentration of world-renowned museums and cultural centers packed into a single mile-long span, it’s a testament to New York’s unmatched artistic richness and diversity. And during the Museum Mile Festival, these institutions throw open their doors to the public—completely free of charge—for an unforgettable evening that blends art with the spirit of a street festival.
This year’s festival includes participating museums, each offering free admission for the evening:
- The Metropolitan Museum of Art:1000 5th Avenue at 82nd Street (212) 535-7710
- Neue Galerie New York:1048 5th Avenue at 86th Street
- Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum:1071 5th Avenue at 89th Street
- Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum:2 East 91st Street btw 5th Avenue & Madison Avenue
- The Jewish Museum:1109 5th Ave at E 92nd Street
- Museum of City of New York:1220 5th Avenue at 103rd Street
- El Museo del Barrio:1230 5th Avenue at 104th Street
- The Africa Center:1280 5th Ave at 109th Street
- Junior Members: New York Academy of Medicine, Church of the Heavenly Rest, Asia Society, and the AKC Museum of the Dog
In addition to viewing stunning collections and special exhibitions, guests can enjoy live performances from jazz ensembles, Broadway vocalists, string quartets, and more, each playing outside the museum entrances. Street performers, food vendors, and interactive art stations will line the route, creating a true festival atmosphere for all ages.
Family-Friendly Activities
The Museum Mile Festival is a haven for families and kids, with dedicated children’s art activities offered by several museums. Special Kids’ Activity Guides will be available to help younger visitors navigate the festival and engage with the art in fun, age-appropriate ways. Whether they’re drawing in outdoor workshops or dancing to a live band, there’s plenty to spark the imagination.
A Tradition with Lasting Impact
Founded in 1978, the Museum Mile Festival was created to promote public support for the arts and broaden access to cultural institutions. Since then, it has welcomed over one million visitors and inspired similar events across the nation. By opening the doors of museums and taking art into the streets, the festival encourages a deeper appreciation for the cultural fabric that makes New York so unique.
Rain or shine, the 2025 Museum Mile Festival promises a night of discovery, joy, and community spirit. So grab your walking shoes, bring the family, and get ready to experience New York’s Museum Mile like never before.
