On Saturday, November 5 at 11:30 am, Karakterre, the leading natural wine festival focusing on Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, will make its North American debut at Rockefeller Center. More than 50 natural winemakers from Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary, and Italy—some of them coming to New York for the very first time—will convene in the heart of Manhattan to personally showcase their wines for a single day of tasting, meeting, and connecting.
About Karakterre (www.karakterre.con)
Karakterre is Central and Eastern Europe’s leading salon of organic, biodynamic and natural wines. It takes place annually in Austria and New York. Karakterre promotes wineries from the wider Central-Eastern European basin, with specific focus on Austria and its winegrowing regions. Each year we also welcome grower friends from other European winegrowing areas. Karakterre was born out of passion for wine and organic farming. We’ve been involved with low intervention wines for almost two decades – our relationship is not only with wine, but also the grower-farmers who consistently demonstrate their commitment to the natural environment. The single-day event brings together unique low-intervention winegrowers, to showcase their work and ideas. We focus on much more than what’s hip at the moment – from the beginning, Karakterre has curated an important and evolving conversation on sustainability.
