Swing the night away while listening to 1920’s and 1930’s jazz music instantly transporting you back to the Jazz Age while enjoying the summer night at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Join David Rothenberg and TablaTun on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s (990 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11225) at the Cherry Esplanade. Performing with TablaTun (Matthew Aidekman and Mike Lukshis) and exploring the relationship between humanity and nature the concert will be an immersive, multicultural, interspecies sonic feast combining Hindustani drumming, electronics and live and recorded birdsong.
As part of it’s summer long exhibition For the Birds is a Garden-wide multidisciplinary exhibition and program series that explores the interconnections of birds and plants, and the urgent need to protect plant ecosystems. The 33 site-specific birdhouses on view across the Garden were created by renowned artists, architects, and designers. Inspired by bird species in residence at BBG, each birdhouse is a meditation on the natural world from artists working in a range of materials and points of view. Visitors will be able to also explore the Garden and view each birdhouse before and after each concert.
This event is free with Garden admission. Garden tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Children under 12 attending with an adult is free. Tickets are available here.
