The Edukators are a melodic indie four-piece hailing from the socialist utopia of Jackson Heights, Queens, featuring a powerhouse lead singer & some dudes. The band consists of singer/guitarist/lyricist Sophia Rothman (currently crushing it in her first year of college), drummer David Rothman (no relation) (ok, just kidding, heās her dad), guitarist Eric Cimino, and bassist Dan Catalano. The bandās latest, addictively catchy EP, How to be Alone, is out now on Magic Door Recordings.

Os Clavelitos is a samba/world music band based in New York City that performs Brazilian classics (samba, baiao, bossa nova, samba reggae) sung in Portuguese, as well as their original music that mixes Brazilian rhythms with English lyrics. They often incorporate batucada (percussion ensemble) into their shows and present an upbeat, high energy performance that gets people up and dancing!

Ben Freidkin & Omri Bar Giora’s Fusion Project is a tribute act to the Jazz Fusion greats – Miles Davis, John Scofield, Mike Stern, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Allan Holdsworth, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and more. Founded and co-led by award-winning drummer Ben Freidkin (2020 Freddie Gruber Drum Set Award by PAS, George Bann Award for Best Jazz Performer) and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music Scholar, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Omri Bar Giora. They are joined by the spectacular Julia Chen on keys and Noam Tanzer on electric bass.

The sun-drenched beach towns of the Peruvian coast are home to the dynamic Afro-Peruvian music and dance style known as festejo, where layers of energetic percussion intermingle with piercing vocals and ornate guitar work to create an irresistibly danceable groove. The New York based band Festejation pays homage to this tradition while bringing their own decidedly urban edge to their music.
The group was started by bassist/arranger Edward PĆ©rez, co-leader of the Grammy nominated Terraza Big Band, who has penned musical works for such groups as The Silkroad Ensemble, Yo-Yo Ma, Cristina Pato, and Peruvian Grammy nominee Jorge Pardo. This performance will feature special guest vocalist Alvaro Isla, on tour from Lima, PerĆŗ.

For New York-based trombonist and composer Amadis Dunkel the recent birth of his son Louis represents both a celebration of new life and the awesome energy that it brings with it, as well as a reminder of our intrinsic responsibility to make this world a better place for all new life.
This duality is reflected in Dunkelās latest compositional exploration āSuite For Louis.ā Dunkelās suite is grouped into two parts. The fist part is celebratory, it contains new compositions such as āLouisā Lullabyā and āSunrise On Planet Nineā which was recently featured at the Composer Concordanceās 10th annual festival in New York City. Part two deals with the dark side of our world: war, injustice etc.
Expect high energy and vast stylistic variety.

Lee Taylor doesnāt have a big discography or countless videos on YouTube, but what she lacks in online media is reinforced by boisterous vocal chops and spot-on charisma. And yes, sheās got more musical game than most āinfluencersā out on their showy platforms. Her live album Wild Woman, due out Friday, March 12th exemplifies this vocal force who rings comparisons from Dionne Warwick, Lily Allen, and Joss Stone. – Glide Magazine

Sam Phelps is a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter from Southern Kentucky whose music draws on country-roots heroes like Steve Earle and Jason Isbell. His forthcoming EP, Hunter Springs Road, produced by Grammy award winning artist Chance McCoy (Old Crow Medicine Show), and featuring guitar virtuoso Laur Joamets (Sturgill Simpson), will be released on November 4, 2021.

Pigeonwing, named for its blend of airiness and NYC grit, was founded in 2016 by Guggenheim Fellow Gabrielle Lamb.Ā The Pigeons have been presented by NY City Center, 92Yās Harkness Dance Festival, Bryant Park, and Jacobās Pillow.Ā In 2018 the Pigeons were the first dance company commissioned by Symphony Spaceās beloved “Selected Shorts”. Described by The New Yorker as āeccentric…playful…curiousā, Pigeonwing Dance seeks the coordinates where beauty turns to awkwardness and tension dissolves into ease. Whirlwinds, accidents, and chance encounters are caught, preserved, and folded into dance. This improvisatory abandon is counterbalanced by meticulous calculation, revealing intricate architectures where fleeting moments of resolution open into new wonderings.Ā Ā

In 2005, David Soto began performing as Daso through his newly formed band. Daso Y El Grupo Cemi is a music ensemble that is very diverse in styles fusing Salsa Tropical, Hip Hop and Reggae which include references to his early influences of Afro Caribbean Rhythms ā Bomba and Musica Jibara. This eclectic mix of styles is something he calls āAfro Caribbean Soulā music.

Based in Albany, NY, Bright Dog Red has released five albums for Ropeadope. The groupās most recent offering, 2022ās Under the Porch, described as “genre-agnostic, uncategorizable, and intensely thrillingā by Glide Magazine, has earned the ensemble international acclaim.

Harmony With Hunter is a live looping project from professional musician and multi-instrumentalist Michael Hunter. Michael has spent the past decade playing an unusually wide range of gigs in NYC, from drumming in metal bands to playing violin on Broadway. His most recent project involves “live looping”, where he combines his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist with looping pedal technology to create full band arrangements on the fly. Electric violin, keyboards, guitars, beatboxing and a soulful voice all combine organically, as Michael makes full use of the varied experience he’s collected as a professional musician in the NYC scene.Ā Ā
