The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine is hosting its annual St. Francis Day celebration on Sunday, October 6th, 2024. This beloved tradition honors St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the environment and ecology.

The day kicks off with a special worship service at 10:30 am, featuring the heartwarming Procession of the Animals. Witness a diverse parade of creatures, from cats and dogs to birds and other furry (or feathered) friends, as they join the celebration. The service will be complemented by beautiful music from Artist in Residence Paul Winter and a captivating dance performance by Forces of Nature.

Following the service, the festivities continue with the St. Francis Day Fair, running from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm rain or shine. Bring your furry companion for a special blessing by Cathedral clergy, a cherished tradition for many New Yorkers.

The fair offers a variety of activities for the whole family. Capture memories with pet portrait photography, learn about environmental initiatives through informative booths, and enjoy other fun activities. Additionally, the ASPCA will be present with an adoption van from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, providing the opportunity to meet and potentially adopt a pet in need of a loving home.

This event is open to the public and free of charge. While RSVPs are not required, they are encouraged to receive updates and information about the day.
