On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Brooklyn Children’s Museum (BCM) and Haiti Cultural Exchange (HCX) present Ti Atis (Little Artists) Haitian Heritage Month Selebrasyon!, a vibrant day-long celebration honoring Haitian culture through dance, storytelling, art, and music. This joyful event also marks the grand finale of HCX’s Ti Atis program series, which has been engaging young learners monthly at BCM since November 2024.
Families are invited to immerse themselves in Haitian traditions through a lineup of engaging, family-friendly activities featuring guest artists and cultural educators. The event will highlight the richness of Haiti’s folkloric and artistic heritage while fostering community and creativity.
Schedule of Events – Saturday, May 10, 2025:
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM • Rooftop Terrace
Percussion & Dance Workshop with Sky Menesky and Alexandra Jean Joseph of Imamou Lele. Experience traditional Haitian rhythms and movements in an energetic and interactive session.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM • Brooklyn Voices Exhibit Space
Krik? Krak! Storytelling Session hosted by Jaden Timoun, blending Haitian Creole oral storytelling with song and movement.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM • Commons Theater
Puppetry & Folktale Workshop with Emmanuel Elpenord, where children will build tabletop puppets and explore a humorous Haitian folktale.
Admission is $15 for general entry, which includes access to all programs. Children under one year-old enter free. Tickets are available at: brooklynkids.org/programs/ti-atis-little-artists.
About the Artists:

Sky Menesky is a Brooklyn-based percussionist and educator, and music director of Imamou Lele, devoted to preserving Haiti’s folkloric musical traditions.

Alexandra Jean-Joseph, also of Imamou Lele, is a choreographer and mambo, focused on connecting Haitian dance with Vodou rites and preserving its spiritual roots.

Jaden Timoun, co-founded by educators Darnelle Champagne and Wynnie Lamour, offers Haitian Creole storytelling and language programs for children across NYC.

Emmanuel Elpenord is a celebrated puppeteer and actor known for his work off-Broadway and throughout NYC, with a deep connection to Haitian culture and storytelling.
