The 2023 BKPRIDE Youth event is a celebration of LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies in Brooklyn. It will take place on Saturday, June 17th, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Brooklyn Museum. The event will feature live performances, workshops, games, art, and more. The event is free and open to all, but registration is required.
The event is part of the annual Brooklyn Pride festivities, which aim to increase visibility, acceptance, and inclusion for the LGBTQIA+ community in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Pride was founded in 1996 by a group of activists who wanted to create a local celebration of LGBTQIA+ culture and history. The first Brooklyn Pride Parade took place in 1997 in Park Slope, a popular residential neighborhood for lesbians. Since then, Brooklyn Pride has grown to become one of the largest and most diverse Pride events in New York City, attracting thousands of participants and spectators every year. Brooklyn Pride honors the spirit of the Stonewall Riots, which sparked the modern gay rights movement in 1969.
