87th Annual Pulaski Day Parade

Sunday, October 6, 2024
12:30 pm

Starts at Fifth Avenue and around 29th Street and heads north to 5th Street

The 87th annual Pulaski Day Parade will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 12:30 PM along Fifth Avenue in New York City. The parade, a long-standing tradition for the Polish-American community, will showcase this year’s theme, “For Freedom Is Measured by Crosses.” Thousands of Polish-Americans will march, representing various schools, youth and sports organizations, folk dance groups, businesses, and parishes from the Tri-State area. Representatives from the Polish government, along with distinguished community members, will join the celebration to honor and highlight Polish heritage.

The parade will be a vibrant celebration of Polish culture, as attendees can expect colorful displays of traditional clothing, music, and folk dances, all contributing to the festive atmosphere along Fifth Avenue. The event calls on all Polish-Americans to show their pride and support, as this parade remains a symbol of unity and cultural heritage. Participants and spectators alike are invited to reflect on the rich history of Polish contributions to America, with the spirit of General Casimir Pulaski—the Polish-born Revolutionary War hero—at the heart of the celebration.

Since 1937, New York’s Polish-American community has organized the Pulaski Day Parade to honor General Pulaski during October. The parade is held annually on the first Sunday of the month, closely aligning with General Pulaski Memorial Day on October 11, a national observance commemorating his death at the Siege of Savannah. The event is not only a tribute to Pulaski’s legacy but also a way for the Polish-American community to come together and celebrate their ongoing contributions to American society.
