45th Annual Museum Mile Festival

5th Avenue from 82nd to 110th Street
The 45th Annual Museum Mile Festival will be taking place on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 along the stretch of Fifth Avenue from 82nd Street and 110th Street. On that evening, Eight NYC Cultural Institutions and others in the neighborhood will be open for free to folks of all ages. Along the way, you’ll discover the occasional street performer, musical group, and more.
The following is a list of participating co-organizing museums with their respective links either for the event or for their main website:
- Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum;
- The Metropolitan Museum of Art;
- Neue Galerie New York;
- Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum;
- The Jewish Museum;
- Museum of the City of New York;
- El Museo del Barrio;
- and The Africa Center.
At the Guggenheim, one will be able to take in such exhibitions that are on view: Gego: Measuring Infinity, Sarah Sze: Timelapse, Young Picasso in Paris, A Year with Children 2023, and the Thannhauser Collection. The museum will also host a series of outdoor art-making activities using sustainable materials.

At the Cooper Hewitt, the following exhibitions will be on view:
- Give Me a Sign: The Language of Symbols examines the fascinating histories behind many of the symbols that instruct, protect, entertain, empower, and connect people.
- Designing Peace explores the unique role design can play in pursuing peace.

In coordination with the Give Me a Sign exhibition, visitors are invited to design symbols and participate in creative activities to co-create a Symbol Sourcebook of 2024.

At the Jewish Museum, Dingonek Street Band will perform three sets (at 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm) outside the Jewish Museum on Fifth Avenue. Presented as part of an ongoing collaboration with Bang on a Can.
Also, there will be Drop-in Art Activity for all ages. As well, there will be the following exhibitions on view:
- The Sassoons
- After “The Wild”: Contemporary Art from The Barnett and Annalee Newman Foundation Collection
- Scenes from the Collection

According to At the Museum of the City of New York site, there will be music, dancing art-making activities for all ages, a DJ and more festivities. Along with, of course, a chance to tour their newest exhibition, This is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture and more.

El Museo Del Barrio will have a live musical performance by Afro Dominicano, music by DJ Jomero, an art-making workshop and more.
