Head on over for the 3-day powwow at Queens Farm, where you can experience the music, dance, art, food and traditions of over 40 Native American nations. Watch inter-tribal dance competitions, shop for authentic crafts and jewelry, taste delicious fry bread and other foods, and learn about the history and significance of various dances and ceremonies. Don’t miss the Grand Entry and the bonfire on Friday and Saturday nights, where you can join the dance circle and feel the spirit of the Native American culture.
The powwow runs from July 28 to July 30, 2023, with gates opening at different times depending on the day. You can buy a 1-day or a 3-day pass online in advance, as tickets are limited. A ticket gives you access to the powwow and the craft/food market, but you will need to pay extra for food, crafts, hayrides and other activities. There is no ATM on site, so bring cash if you plan to buy anything. If the event is canceled due to bad weather, you will get a full refund.
The powwow is hosted by the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers, the oldest resident Native American dance company in New York. They are descendants of various tribes who founded the troupe in 1963 to preserve and share their culture and traditions with the public. They also raise scholarships for young American Indian students. Come and support their mission and enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience at Queens Farm.
