If you love Scotland and its people, you should check out the Tartan Day Parade in NYC. It’s a fun and festive way to honor the Scottish-Americans who have made a difference in this country. The parade started in 1999 with just two pipe bands, but now it’s a huge event with thousands of marchers from all kinds of Scottish-American groups. You can see bagpipers, Highland dancers, clan organizations, Scottish dog breeds, and more. The parade also has a Grand Marshal, who is always someone famous and cool from Scotland or with Scottish roots.
The parade is not the only thing happening during NYC Tartan Week. It’s a whole week of awesome events that celebrate Scottish heritage and culture in America. You can learn more about Scotland’s history, music, art, and more at lectures, concerts, exhibitions, and other activities. The week is organized by the National Tartan Day New York Committee, which is a great organization that represents different Scottish-American groups. They do a lot of work to keep the Scottish spirit alive in America.
