39th Annual Independence Day Celebration at Astoria Park
Thursday, June 29
7:30 pm
Taking place within the vicinity of Astoria Park and the Hell Gate Bridge on the East River, Queens, NY
Photos from the 2011 celebration can be found near the bottom of this page.
Gather one and all for the annual pyrotechnic display to end all other local versions. The Fireworks this year, as in past years, will take place on the East River just by the Hell Gate Bridge and north of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly known as the Triborough).
We’ve been to this a couple times in the past and when it comes to small local fireworks, this ranks right up there as one of the best IMHO. It lasts long enough (over 20 minutes?) and the location is quite prime for such an affair to be enjoyed by kids of all ages.
Also, there’ll be a special musical performance on the Great Lawn at Astoria Park by the Swingtime Band leading up to the grand display itself.
You should expect the fireworks to take place at/or beyond sunset.

After searching through our archives we’d stumbled upon this set of photos taken the last time we attended in 2011. Not the greatest quality but photos were taken handheld with a DSLR. 🙂
