Celebrate a Living Legacy at the 10th Annual Greek Jewish Festival
Sunday, May 11, 2025
12:00 – 6:00 pm
280 Broome Street, Between Allen Street and Eldridge Street, Lower East Side, NYC
Step into a rich and vibrant cultural tradition as the Greek Jewish Festival returns to the Lower East Side on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. Hosted by Kehila Kedosha Janina, the only Romaniote synagogue in the Western Hemisphere, this one-of-a-kind event celebrates the unique heritage of the Romaniote and Sephardic Jews of Greece.
Visitors will enjoy an immersive street fair featuring authentic kosher Greek cuisine, homemade pastries, and traditional music and dance performances. Live Greek and Sephardic melodies will echo through the neighborhood, while dancers bring centuries-old traditions to life.
The festival also includes a bustling outdoor marketplace, arts and educational activities for children, and access to the Greek Jewish Museum housed inside Kehila Kedosha Janina. Museum exhibits and volunteers will share the 2,300-year-old story of Greece’s Jewish communities — from the Romaniotes, whose roots trace back to the time of Alexander the Great, to the Sephardim who arrived after the 1492 expulsion from Spain.
Located at 280 Broome Street (between Allen and Eldridge Streets), the festival is a heartfelt celebration of community, history, and Jewish-Greek resilience. All are welcome to experience this only-in-the-world cultural celebration — a treasured fusion of faith, food, music, and memory.
More information is available at www.kkjsm.org or by visiting the synagogue and museum on any Sunday.
