NY Governor Deploying Rapid COVID-19 Testing Machines in Response to Huge Infection Rate Surge

NY Governor Deploying Rapid COVID-19 Testing Machines in Response to Huge Infection Rate Surge Certain Zip Codes of the State

Following up on his announcements concerning the large surges of COVID-19 infections, Governor Andrew Cuomo said that he would immediately send Rapid Testing Machines to those areas which request it.

As reported, there’s been huge increases in COVID-19 infection rates amongst numerous zip codes – in the Mid Hudson region as well as within New York City’s Queens and Brooklyn Boroughs.

The Governor this afternoon:

“So, focus on the clusters. We have 200 rapid testing machines that we’re going to make immediately available today – the public schools, the private schools that are in those zip codes I strongly encourage to request a rapid testing machine and have them start testing their students. A rapid testing machine is 15 minutes turnaround for a test. You can do four per hour. We can make those available today, tomorrow. We can provide staff from the health staff to operate those machines if the local governments can’t.

To the local governments with those zip codes this is the same offer. We will deploy rapid testing machines to local governments to focus on those cluster zip codes.

Also, local governments should focus on those cluster zip codes in terms of mask enforcement and compliance enforcement.”
