The Taste of Jewish Culture Annual Street Festival is a signature event that brings together thousands of foodies and dozens of purveyors of delicious food for a day of eating, learning, and celebrating in New York. The festival features dozens of diverse food vendors, music, engaging activities for kids, and much more!

Visit as well this official page here…

About the Workmen’s Circle

The Workmen’s Circle powers progressive Jewish identity through Jewish cultural engagement, Yiddish language learning, multigenerational education, and social justice activism. For over a century we have provided this 360-degree approach to Jewish identity-building. Through contemporary cultural programs, joyful holiday celebrations, strategic social justice campaigns, vibrant Yiddish language classes, interactive educational experiences and more, we connect Jewish adults, kids and families of all affiliations with their cultural heritage, working to build a better and more beautiful world for all.

The following is from last year’s posting so’s to help give you an idea as to what to expect:

(New York, N.Y.)—The Workmen’s Circle fourth annual “Taste of Jewish Culture” Street Festival, illustrating that “Diversity is Delicious,” returns this Father’s Day, featuring dozens of food purveyors putting their original ethnic spins on traditional Jewish foods, on Sunday, June 17 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sixth Avenue between 48th and 49th Streets (rain or shine). The festival will include music, dance, and family-friendly activities, including arts-and-crafts.

Participants to date include: Bonsai Kakigori; Rebecca’s Cake Pops; Danny Macaroons; La Newyorkina; Krafted by Karli; What’s the Dillaz; Harlem Seafood Soul; Ben’s Kosher Deli; Zabari Catering; P.O.P. Cake Shop; Sylvia Fallas “Cooking for my People”; Paprika Kosher; Breads Bakery; Raw BK Organic Kitchen; Zola Bakes; Mysttik Masaala; Wandering Que; Gluten Free.Sy, and StuFFfed.

Among the global mashups of the day will be: Bonsai Kakigori’s Land of Milk and Honey kakigori; La Newyorkina’s babka ice cream sandwiches; What’s the Dillaz’s brisket quesadillas; and Krafted by Karli’s sweet potato and beet latke. And adding some pizazz, the Workmen’s Circle will be spritzing up egg creams all day – in fact, all dads can stop by to get a free egg cream.

Food won’t be the only thing on the menu: the festival will feature performances by New York Klezmer Series All Stars, and dancing demonstrations by Cantor Sarah Myerson.

The Workmen’s Circle is a social justice organization powering progressive Jewish identity through Jewish cultural engagement, Yiddish language learning, multi-generational education, and transformational activism. Launched by the Workmen’s Circle in 2014, the festival is part of the non-profit’s year-round Taste of Jewish Culture event series, which includes hands-on workshops, walking tours, tastings, film screenings, and book discussions. Festivals have drawn upwards of 15,000 attendees each year.

2019 Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy, NYC

September 12 – 22, 2019

Thank you for being there from the very beginning. Hats off to our friends and marquee partners Leica CameraSt. Ann’s WarehousePhotoWings, the DUMBO Business Improvement District, and our partners in crime, Smorgasburg! “”

The 27th Annual London Street Fair is coming up on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  We like to call ourselves “The Best Little Street Fair in Manhattan”.  It is not your usual commercially run fair.

There will be a myriad of vendors: artists selling their own work, dealers of antiques, clothing, jewelry, furniture, clothing, collectibles of all sorts, records/CDs/DVDs, comic books, tchotchkes (big and small), and a children’s face painter from 12 noon-3pm.  Adults are welcome for face painting as well, there is nothing like a grown man with cat whiskers and glitter.

The street fair will start at 10am and run till 5pm, and is on 24th Street between 9th and 10th Avenue.  Don’t forget the date either, Saturday September 21, 2019.  It is a neighborhood gathering, with families and friends spending time together beneath a canopy of trees, as the leaves are starting to change color.  We consider it our way of welcoming the Autumn season.  Those visiting New York from all over the world show up to see the neighborly hospitality that West Chelsea has to offer.

So, don’t think twice or make other plans.  This is the place to be, and all are welcome.  Hope to see you there!

NYHC Fall Event to Feature Hands-on MultiCrafts Demos and Popup Market @ Grand Bazaar | New York | New York | United States

New York Handmade Collective (NYHC) Joins Grand Bazaar For “Hands-On!” Multi Crafts Demonstrations & Pop-Up Market

Sunday, September 29, 2019

Unique Fall shopping experience will feature live demos and a juried selection of one-of-a-kind, exclusively handcrafted, locally made, artisanal crafts and accessories.

The New York Handmade Collective (NYHC) — formerly known as the Etsy NY Street Team — in partnership with the Grand Bazaar NYC — will welcome Fall with hands-on, multi crafts demonstrations and a pop-up market. This unique shopping experience of live outdoor craft demos and a dynamic handcrafted product showcase of the NYHC’s local talent, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, at the popular shopping destination located at 100 West 77 Street and Columbus Avenue.

“Grand Bazaar NYC firmly believes in supporting local artists, designers and craft-makers, which helps keep our city vibrant and creative,” said Marc Seago, Executive Director at Grand Bazaar NYC. “We’re thrilled that the NY Handmade Collective will once again be joining us for this exciting Fall shopping experience.”

Shoppers will discover a diverse selection of outstanding, one-of-a-kind, exclusively handcrafted merchandise created by over 40 talented, multi-disciplined artisans and designers from the New York metropolitan area. The vast array of exceptional goods will run the gamut from fine art, eye-catching stationery, unusual jewelry, distinctive fashions, home decor and amazing skincare products to items for children and pets.

“This season’s new and improved market offers a rare opportunity to go behind-the-scenes, shop and watch the hands-on creation of unique products from our cadre of diverse, talented local artisans,” said Andi B. O’Connor, co-organizer. “Situated within the long-established Upper West Side market that is the Grand Bazaar NYC, the NYHC Show will highlight the value of quality handmade crafts in today’s society when so much is mass-produced and disposable.”

The Importance of Handmade

Recently NYHC surveyed over 200 artisans to gather impressions and data on the importance of quality handmade products. At this season’s show, NYHC will have a table with information and materials on this subject, staffed by members who can answer visitors’ questions. For example, creators of handcrafted goods are part of a community dedicated to connecting with customers and bringing back the personal touch that is so rare in today’s digital global marketplace.

Other survey findings:

Handmade products tend to be of higher quality, singular and authentic, reflecting rich cultures and traditions and an eco-friendly, sustainable, environmental awareness that is present in these artisans’ practices and processes. Handcrafted items also nurture creativity and individuality and perpetuate the art of crafting. In addition, handmade products are beautiful, one-of-a-kind and well-made. As a result, they tend to be more valuable and durable than mass-produced, disposable items.

About NYHC:

Founded in 2007 and representing one of the oldest, largest and most professionally organized teams of local active sellers on Etsy, Inc., the NYHC has cultivated a long-established, local presence in the NYC metro area by hosting a number of successful and highly curated in-person markets, workshops and events: Holiday Handmade Cavalcade, Crafts in Chelsea, and Celebrate Brooklyn, to name a few. NYHC is also known for its all-volunteer organization dedicated to the promotion and marketing of online selling opportunities on behalf of its members through its wide-ranging press outreach, expansive social media presence, informative blogs and beautiful website.

About Grand Bazaar NYC:

Open year-round and located at 100 West 77th St and Columbus Avenue, Grand Bazaar NYC is one of the oldest and largest weekly curated markets in this city with over 43,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. It is the only market with a social mission for the exclusive purpose of raising much-needed funding for the four neighboring public schools, benefitting over 4,000 children.
