Life Lessons through Experiencing Nature at the Harlem Meer

Within the Big Apple, there’s really only so far one can go in losing oneself within the beauty and peace of nature. Thankfully we’ve this giant park in the middle of this steel and concrete fortress; that, along with the hundreds of pockets of smaller parks within our boroughs. Yet, we’ll take what we can get.

Speaking for myself I’m often able to reach a point wherein stillness envelopes my soul…that is, upon seeking out my oneness with the little bit of nature NYC’s able to offer. It’s within such moments, for whatever length of time they last, that I’m able to better escape the pressures of city life and forget, if only for moments, the problems of the day. Of course, the meditational aspects of photography happen to be a big help, and I’m grateful for that as well.

Photo above was taken on a gorgeous afternoon at Central Park’s Harlem Meer during the month of August, 2018.
