Japan Society, 333 East 47th Street, New York, NY 10017, USA
Japan Society – America’s most respected resource on Japan
Founded in 1907 by a group of prominent American and Japanese business and professional men in NYC, the organization’s purpose has been the promotion of friendly relations between the United States and Japan. It’s interesting to note that during WWII its founding members continued to be active with the Japan Society and thereafter continued on with the Society’s goal which was supported by John D. Rockefeller III whom in 1956 founded the Asia Society. He was quite the man.
Available at the Japan Society is its gallery, rotating exhibitions, performing arts and lectures. As well are programs it offers to teachers and students for the sake of enlightenment and understanding of Japanese Society.
