As one member of this talented cast of lead-livered actors imbibes more than their fair share of liquid courage, an outrageous evening of theater ensues as they attempt to lead the rest of the cast through a Shakespeare story in just over one hour. Rest assured, the results will be sloppy, silly and occasionally iambic as the night devolves into inevitable debauchery. [less-]

Queerly is a festival that looks at life through lavender-colored glasses, featuring performers from New York City and beyond for a gender-liminal, super-gay, non-conformist, totally butch, aggressively femme and subversive AF celebration of all things LGBTQA (LMNOP). Performed by Michael Doshier, "Johnny Darlin" is an intimate live-music meditation on the various boys in Johnny's life: from his first love, to his father, to the LGBTQ+ friends he grew up closeted alongside in the Bible Belt of suburban Arkansas. It's a larger coming-to-terms with how any and all queer people make sense of the important figures that enter and exit their lives as they grow into the soul they are meant to be. "All Roads Lead to the Kurski Station" is a loose adaptation of the first postmodern novel in Russian, "Moscow Circles" by Vienya Efofeev. The story follows a poet-drunkard called Vienya, as he traverses Soviet Moscow in an attempt to catch a train to visit his beloved in the distant suburb of Petuskhi. Along the way, he is haunted by fantastic visions, and two mysterious women, seemingly determined to frustrate his plans. In the tradition of anti-theater more popular in New York City in the '70s and '80s, "All Roads Lead to the Kurski Station" rejects naturalistic forms of narrativization and storytelling. Instead, a sequence of maniacal fever dreams explore Soviet life through the lens of Vienya's troubled mind. Experience emotion fused with references to religion, art, history and more in this psychotic and surreal chorus at the East Village Playhouse in New York. [less-]
