Governor Cuomo: New York Will be in a World of Hurt for a Long Time if Washington Doesn’t Help
In response to a question he received,NY Governor Andrew Cuomo had the following to say:
“First, if Washington does not step up to the plate and get us financial aid we are going to be in a whole world of hurt for a long time. Between the state and the local governments we need about $50 billion,” said the Governor.
The Governor then spoke of the suggestion by some that taxes be raised. To which he says that raising taxes would drive people away to other states – and raising it to the highest in the nation would amount to only bringing in a couple billion dollars – and doing so at all would.
The statements came during today’s telephone press briefing.
This all comes after weeks of state and local leaders speaking of the Federal Government’s reluctance to bail out New York after the huge economic hit its taken from the COVID-19 crisis.
