of the Neighborhood for Visitors and New Yorkers Alike

– Professional guides lead participants on 90-minute historic tours every Sunday morning, rain or shine, throughout the year –

(New York. N.Y.) – The Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID) provides free, year-round historic walking tours of the district every Sunday, led by professional guides. The walking tours highlight some of the city’s most notable landmarks, including the Flatiron Building, New York Life Insurance Building, MetLife Clock Tower, and Appellate Courthouse.
Since the Flatiron Partnership began offering the tours a decade ago, more than 6,100 people – from 59 countries and more than 425 cities in the United States and Canada – have taken part in more than 500 excursions.
Historians leading the tours are: Miriam Berman, author of “Madison Square: The Park and Its Celebrated Landmarks” and “New York in Words and Images”, a book of New York postcards; Mike Kaback, a native New Yorker who has an unquenchable enthusiasm for everything about the city; and, Fred Cookinham, author of “The Age of Rand: Imagining an Objectivist Future World”.
Tours take place every Sunday starting at 11:00 a.m. and meet at the southwest corner of Madison Square Park (in front of the William Seward statue) at 23rd Street and Broadway. No advance registration is required, and tours take place rain or shine.  For more information about Flatiron’s historic walking tours, visit: http://www.flatirondistrict.nyc/free-walking-tour
