Winter Carnival at Bryant Park

Featuring all sorts of events from Broomball, Curling and the Ice Ball to the Opening Night Skating Performance, Silent Disco, Skatefest and much, much more!

Winter Carnival officially gets underway at 5pm this Friday, and the first big event is the Special Olympics Skating Showcase at 6pm, featuring a dazzling performance by two-time Olympian Johnny Weir. He’ll be joined by Olympian Kimmie Meissner, members of the Special Olympics skating team, and the synchronized skating team The Skyliners.

There will be plenty more at The Rink all through the week. Take free skating lessons conducted by Learn to Skate USA at SkateFest, watch Speedskating exhibitions, and try your hand at curling and broomball. A special Winter Carnival edition of College Skate Nights presents the Battle of the Boybands on Tuesday, and the ever-elegant Ice Ball is on Thursday.

Overlook will host Puppet Shows with WonderSpark Puppets, three special free workout classes: two yoga sessions by Lyons Den Power Yoga on January 27 and February 1 (pre-registration required here) and a boot camp class with Tone House on January 28 (pre-registration required here).

For food and drink, stop by the Brew House on The Deck, offering a variety of beers from Captain Lawrence Brewing Company and glühwein made with Cali Red from The Drop Wine Company. Come for Happy Hour at 5pm–6pm, Monday-Friday, and get 50% off your beer or mulled wine purchase. Pair your drink with a classic sausage or brat by Brooklyn Cured. The Brew House is also host to live music, live DJs, and fun activities including Live Band Karaoke with Arlene’s World Famous, Dueling Pianos, trivia, and more, including a Big Game viewing party on February 4.

Throughout the week, warm up at the Bank of America Warming Lodge. It’s toasty inside, with comfortable furniture, and free mobile device charging. For the ultimate selfie, go to the Lowell Fountain and check out the Everblock Ice Castle. The Fountain Terrace will also serve as home base for Frozen Finger Juggling, the Silent Disco hosted by Southwest Airlines and the Cozy Sweater Pup Meet-Up.
