Admission: Free-will offering
Fairy tales come to life as opera comes to Queens on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 7PM. Queens’ innovative performing arts organization Opera Pomme Rouge presents an interactive free opera – a fully staged production of the beloved “Hansel and Gretel” at Whitestone’s beautiful Moak Yang Presbyterian Church. This family-friendly abridged version, approximately 45 minutes long and sung in English, will showcase the talented participants of the Opera Pomme Rouge Young Artists Program from various parts of the globe. These engaging artists will invite the audience to actually become part of the performance: no experience necessary! But it will be a memorable experience for Queens community members, especially those who are attending opera for the first time.
Directed by Anna Etsuko Tsuri and starring Elsa Quéron, Aine Hakamatsuka, Lola Bauhaus, and Kyoko Ogawa. Dong-Hyun Kim conducts members of the Queensboro Symphony Orchestra with pianists Junko Ichikawa and Noi Otomasu.
