Chelsea Market’s event space November 27 – December 3
New York, NY (October 8, 2017) – This holiday season NY Handmade Collective (NYHC) is showcasing our collective history as makers, and offering our customers something new and a little bit different: the chance to explore the history of making in NYC, past and present. Experience, learn, and shop as more than 70 indie vendors from across the Tri-State Area showcase their work in four different markets at four different locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
“We are so excited to provide four different shopping venues this year for our team members and loyal base. In addition to four unique spaces, we’re celebrating the history of handmade in New York. As makers continuing a tradition dating back to when Natives lived in what we know as New York and New Jersey, we want customers to not just have an opportunity to shop, but to experience and understand how vital it is to have their support in an rapidly ever changing world of consumer products,” says Sara Stroman, Marketing Director of NY Handmade Collective.
The 2017 holiday season kicks off with “Making New York-Small Business Saturday/Weekend Market” at the Brooklyn Art Library in Williamsburg on Saturday November 25th and Sunday November 26th. For the first time, this event hosted by NYHC in partnership with AMEX and Etsy celebrates small business with a day devoted to shopping small and local.
From November 27-December 3, NYHC artisans will present “Making New York-A Hands-on History & Shopping Experience” at Chelsea Market’s event space. This highly curated week-long market will showcase the history of handmade makers/settlers to our team members today, bringing together some of the best brands in local handmade and will include some hands-on workshops.
Two more markets make up the well known and sought after annual Holiday Handmade Cavalcade-in Manhattan, the first weekend and the following weekend in Brooklyn. The Holiday Handmade Cavalcade has nine years worth of history, and has become a must for holiday shoppers looking for unique and locally crafted gifts.
From December 8-10, the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade Manhattan will take place in a pop-up space at the corner of Broadway and Great Jones Street. On December 16 & 17, the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade Brooklyn will take place at the Brooklyn Historical Society. Both these events offer visitors the opportunity to not only do their holiday shopping, but to learn about the techniques used by these local artisans.
Four great venues, two historical boroughs. Over 70 local, handmade vendors. Shop handmade for your holiday needs!
