JLF At New York

September 19 – 20, 2018

Asia Society, 725 Park Avenue (at 70th Street) New York, New York 10021

This past January, in its 11th year, the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival in India, drew 400,000 footfalls to Diggi Palace in the Rajasthani capital. The Festival, which is often called “the greatest literary show on Earth,” serves as a beacon of freedom of expression around the world, giving rise to more than 200 other literature festivals, throughout South Asia and countries around the world.

Teamwork Arts, producers of the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival, bring to New York an iconic event featuring internationally acclaimed authors and thinkers. JLF at New York runs from September 19-20 with a range of provocative panels and debates to discuss the issues that shape our thoughts and perspectives at the Asia Society.

JLF at New York will be held in association with Asia Society and Museum, an educational organization dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders and institutions of Asia and the United States in a global context, and the Consulate General of India. This event is in partnership with the South Asia Institute at Columbia University.

Along with the festival directors Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, confirmed speakers include Navtej Sarna, Ambassador of India to the United States,  cardiologist and New York Times bestselling author Sandeep Jauhar, surgeon and story-teller Sharad Paul, Shakespeare scholar James Shapiro, debut novelist Preti Taneja, and politician and bestselling author Shashi Tharoor.
