    Dia Art Foundation concludes 10th anniversary celebration of Dia:Beacon with a Full Day of Programs Focusing on Movement, Free for Area Residents

    Residents of New York’s Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester Counties are invited to visit Dia:Beacon free of charge for Community Free Day. Visitors should present a driver’s license, voter registration card, or other government-issued ID for entry.

    PROGRAMS

    11 am

    • Filling Up with Color: A Physical Exploration of New Shapes and Structure
    • Dancer and educator Alli Ross will lead a movement workshop for children ages 7-10 in the Knoebel gallery. Limited space; reservations recommended. (1 hour)

    12 pm

    • Personal Spaces
    • Dia Guide Daniel Oates-Kuhn will lead an exploration of Dia:Beacon using movement-based inquiry. (1 hour)

    1 pm

    • Relating and Reframing Perception through the Work of Fred Sandback
    • In this movement workshop for adults, dancer Alli Ross invites visitors to yield, push, reach, and pull with their eyes and bodies in relation to Fred Sandback’s artworks. Limited space; reservations recommended. (1 hour)

    1 pm

    • Physical Presence: Dia:Beacon through the Lens of the Body
    • Dia Guide Jana Blankenship will lead a tour examining how the body’s movement through space informs personal experience. (1 hour)

    3 pm

    • Gallery Talk
    • Scholar Christopher Bennett will give a focused talk on Alighiero e Boetti. (1 hour)
