The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum joins with Prohibition Productions to host Battle of the Big Bands, an epic music and swing dancing event on the flight deck of the historic aircraft carrier Intrepid located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue) on Saturday, May 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The event is part of the Museum’s celebration of Fleet Week New York 2017.

Celebrate the music, dancing and style of the swing era with a spectacular lineup of over 90 performers, including three of NYC’s best big bands—the Harlem Renaissance Orchestra; the Glenn Crytzer Orchestra with guest vocalist Hannah Gill; and Gunhild Carling with the Swingadelic Big Band.

Costumes and dancing shoes are encouraged. For fashion lovers, the evening will include a vintage fashion show and contest and a 2,000 square-foot dance floor will provide room for a dance contest, swing dance performances, and free beginner swing dance lessons.

A cash bar will be available, along with snacks for purchase.  This event is open to adults ages 21 and over.

Tickets are required and space is limited.  Advance tickets start at $45.00.  VIP ticketholders will get an exclusive tour on the hangar deck and the chance to explore the Museum. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.intrepidmuseum.org.
