    Gilded New York: Decoding the Language of Luxury

    Thursday, June 12, 9:30 am – 3:00 pm

    Explore the objects that defined turn-of-the-century New York with the curators of Gilded New YorkPhyllis MagidsonJeannine Falino, and Donald Albrecht. This full-day event begins with a historical overview of the era by author David Garrard Lowe, followed by in-depth talks focusing on what we can learn about the social and economic lives of the city’s elite from material culture, including jewelry, costume, and interior design. Participants will enjoy private tours of the museum’s costume collection and the exhibition, gather for morning coffee and afternoon tea, and take home a signed copy of the companion publication.
