2018 Fleet Week New York kicks off with Parade of Ships

NEW YORK (NRMA) – Four U.S. Navy ships, three U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) cutters, four U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) yard patrol boats (YPs), two Military Sealift Command ships, and one Royal Canadian Navy vessel are set to arrive in the New York Harbor tomorrow, beginning at 10 a.m., to participate in the 2018 Fleet Week New York (FWNY) Parade of Ships.

More than 2,300 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen will partake this year.

Participating ships will include the following:

  • San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Arlington (LPD 24), from Norfolk, Virginia. USS Arlington will be embarking several hundred Marines from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina
  • Kingston-class coastal defence vessel HMCS Moncton (MM 708), from Canadian Forces Base Halifax
  • Four USNA YPs, from Annapolis, Maryland
  • Sentinel-class cutter USCGC Richard Snyder (WPC 1127), from Atlantic Beach, North Carolina
  • Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Mitscher (DDG 57), from Norfolk, Virginia
  • Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Little Rock (LCS 9), from Mayport, Florida
  • Bay-class cutter USCGC Sturgeon Bay (WTGB 109), from Bayonne, New Jersey
  • Reliance-class cutter USCGC Diligence (WMEC 616), from Wilmington, North Carolina
  • Pathfinder-class oceanographic survey ship USNS Maury (T-AGS 66)
  • Cyclone-class patrol coastal ship USS Zephyr (PC 8), from Mayport, Florida
  • Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport USNS City of Bismarck (T-EPF-9)

The ships can be seen along the Hudson River from Battery Park to just south of the George Washington Bridge. Fort Hamilton is scheduled to conduct an 11-gun salute to the flagship, Arlington, as the ship passes by.

Ships will be open for general public tours starting Thursday, May 24 at 8 a.m.
