    The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) is an exciting showcase for contemporary Bosnian-Herzegovinian cinematography, and films with Bosnia and Herzegovina as their theme. Each year, BHFF brings a colorful tableau of Bosnian and Herzegovinian stories to diverse New York City audiences. Over the years it has grown from a simple film revue event to a New York City institution; its audience includes people with Bosnian heritage, people from other Balkan expatriate communities, as well as a wide cross-section of all New Yorkers who cherish international and independent film productions.

    MEET THE FILMMAKERS: BOSNIAN-HERZEGOVINIAN FILM FESTIVAL PRESENTS DIRECTORS GORAN KAPETANOVIĆ, KIRSTEN JOHNSON, AND GIANLUCA LOFFREDO

    New York, March 28, 2017 – The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) is pleased to announce events with the critically acclaimed filmmakers Goran Kapetanović, Kirsten Johnson, and Gianluca Loffredo, to be held as part of the 14th annual BHFF. The events will be held at the SVA Theatre in New York City on Thursday, April 13, Friday, April 14, and Saturday, April 15, respectively. All three events will feature screenings of the directors’ works, followed by a Q&A discussion.

    In order of appearance, Goran Kapetanović, will join us on April 13 at 8:30pm following a screening of his films “Refuge 532” and “My Aunt in Sarajevo.” Both works deal with Bosnians exploring their roots after being transplanted to other countries, and explore themes of memory, loss, and displacement.

    Goran Kapetanović is a Bosnian-born director currently residing in Sweden. He studied film direction at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. His last four films have received awards at 23 international festivals, including the Toronto Short Film Festival (Best European Short Film) and Montreal Black Film Festival (Canada Best Foreign Drama), among others. His work has also been shown at the Tribeca Film Festival, and the short “Kiruna-Kigali” was shortlisted for the Oscars.
