BROOKLYN FLEA + SMORGASBURG COMBINE WITH
200 VENDORS INSIDE GIANT
50,000 SF INDOOR WILLIAMSBURG SPACE FOR WINTER 2014
Food Market Goes Year-Round for First Time, Featuring 75 Vendors; Vintage, Handmade, Jewelry Vendors Ramp Up for Holidays at Biggest Flea Space Ever
Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg, its all-food sister market, join forces this winter to create a giant indoor environment in a 50,000 sf industrial space in the heart of Williamsburg. With 200 vendors, including 75 food booths, the new second-floor space is the Flea’s largest-ever location and also marks the first time that Smorgasburg will operate year-round. Open every weekend through March 2014 at 80 North 5th St. and Wythe Ave., the winter market’s hours are 10am-7pm through Dec. 21/22, and 10am-6pm through March 29/30, 2014.
Holiday shopping has never looked better at the Flea, as the new location allows longtime vintage/antique, handmade, and jewelry vendors to leave their booths set up during the week and assemble vibrant and creative displays. The collective effect is the ultimate hub of micro-commerce in New York this holiday season—from Mr. Streetwear’s black-and-white photos of ‘70s downtown NYC icons to Flux Productions’ canvas-and-leather clutches and handbags to Tutek’s vintage holiday sweaters to NY Shuk’s intricate Middle Eastern spice spreads.
To top it off, 75 Smorgasburg vendors comprise the food court dreams are made of. Snack on Ramen Burgers, Mighty Quinn’s BBQ brisket, Brooklyn Wok Shop’s pastrami dumplings, Cheese Pop’s raclette, or Rice + Miso Everyday’s vegetable curry. Take home Ish horseradish, Leckerlee German lebkuchen, Hearbreaking Dawns’ hot sauce, or Bellocq’s exquisite loose teas. And wash it all down with a Brooklyn beer, mimosa, or mulled wine at SmorgasBar (through Dec. 28/29 only).
