Will meet demand of growing residential community twice a week
Thursdays from 10 am – 4 pm and Saturdays 11 am – 5 pm – through November 23
To meet the needs of the growing population in Downtown Brooklyn, the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership will open a farmers market featuring up to 15 vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, and more. The grand opening will feature cultural performances from the BEAT Festival and a cooking demonstration by gourmet chef Tanya Tracy.
Operated by Bensidoun, which manages markets throughout New York, Chicago, and Paris, the Albee Square Farmers Market will run twice a week – Thursdays from 10 am – 4 pm and Saturdays 11 am – 5 pm – through November 23. EBT tokens and WIC checks will be accepted.
Vendor information: Up to 15 vendors will participate in the market’s first year. In late November and December 2013, the market will shift to a holiday theme offering seasonal products and crafts.
Starting in May 2015, the Albee Square Farmers Market will expand to include up to 24 vendors selling an even greater mix of produce, baked goods, and crafts.
Planned vendors for the first season include Dutchess County’s Migliorelli Farm, selling locally-grown produce; Tierra Farm, selling dried fruits and nuts; Fort Greene’s Le Petit Bakery, selling breads and baked goods; and
Robibero Family Vineyards, selling Hudson Valley wine.
Other planned vendors include Amelia’s Florist, Original Delancey Street Peanut Company, Meredith Bread, Anthis Greek Food, Yona’s Gourmet Delights, High Mountain Foods, Vesco Food, Café Mavi Express, and Provence en Boite.
