Friday, September 23, 2016
“”The world premiere of Humans Collective: Symbioh, a thought-provoking journey inspired by symbiotic relationships and medieval architecture, is the next installment in a series of performances from the CUNY Dance Initiative on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center at LaGuardia Community College, 31-10 Thomson Ave, Long Island City, NY. Humans Collective is an up-and-coming dance company that has already produced a sold-out benefit concert, made its television debut for NBC’s Red Nose Day and was featured at the MassBliss Mindfulness Festival in The Berkshires. Artistic Director and choreographer Lauren Cox draws upon an eclectic blend of dance and storytelling with roots in modern, contemporary jazz, African dance, and improvisation to create a rich visual landscape. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased at the Box Office or www.lpac.nyc/events.
The CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI) provides affordable rehearsal space to New York City choreographers and dance companies, master classes, and hosts performances open to the public. In 2016, 12 CUNY colleges in all five boroughs are hosting 23 artists from emerging choreographers to established dance companies””
