The world premiere of Dzul Dance: Rites of Passage, fusing dance with aerial and circus arts to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, will open a series of performances associated with the CUNY Dance Initiative on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College, 524 W 59th St, Manhattan. By transforming bodies into earthbound and airborne forces of nature, choreographer Javier Dzul focuses on pre-Hispanic rites of passage while exploring the idea of ritual as a transformative experience. A free preview of Rites of Passage, including a Q&A with Javier Dzul, will be held on Friday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. Tickets are $30. For more information: call (212) 237-8005 or visit http://www.dzul.eventbrite.com/.
