Yinka Shonibare’s work is in part a pointed demonstration of the cosmopolitan character of what is generally considered “Western” dress. In “The Quixotic and the Exotic,” designer and fashion historian J. Leia Lima will give a history of 18th-century fashion internationalism, detailing the processes and sensibilities that gave birth to the period’s exquisitely ornate baroque and rococo styles. Time and price to be determined. Advanced registration is required.
