    Poet, performance artist, playwright, and novelist Ntozake Shange is best known for her 1975 award winning theatre piece For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf and is the author of many works including Betsey Brown, A Daughter’s Geography, Ellington Was Not a Street,  and Some Sing, Some Cry. Shange will be presented with the Langston Hughes Medal following day-long festival events dedicated to her work.
