“Lift is about people and connections. The connections we have without knowing about them, the connections we lose sight of and the connections we don’t mean to have,” press notes state. “Eight people get in a lift at Covent Garden tube station on an ordinary morning and what follows is an exploration into their thoughts. Through seeing everything they think and revealing their innermost secrets, we realize that in some way they are all connected and if they reached out to one another they might change their lives forever.”
(New York) Beautiful Soup Theater (Rags, Moose Murders, A Doll’s Life) will present the American premiere of Craig Adams and Ian Watson’s musical Lift, which made its sold-out premiere at London’s Soho Theatre earlier this year after being developed with Perfect Pitch Musicals. A concept album featuring members of the original cast is available on iTunes.
The production will feature the previously announced Kimberly Faye Greenberg (One Night With Fanny Brice, Danny and Sylvia: The Danny Kaye Musical) as The French Teacher. She is joined by Netanel Bellaishe (So You Think You Dance Israel, National Tour of A Chorus Line), Erin Elizabeth Eichhorn (Rags) as The Secretary, Spencer Kurtti as The Busker, Randall Glen Taylor as Bright Young Thing, Samantha Mercado-Tudda (Rags) as The Lap Dancer, with Morgan DeTogne (Rags) and Jeffrey Van Damme (Rags) as The American Tourists. Aaron Griffin-VanderYacht serves as understudy. Original West End Lift cast members Julie Atherton (Avenue Q, Mamma Mia!) and Cynthia Errivo (The Color Purple), will lend their voices to unseen roles.
*A portion of the proceeds from this production will benefit Broadway Impact’s fight for Marriage Equality. Broadway Impact is the first and only grassroots organization to mobilize the nationwide theater community in support of marriage equality. To learn more, visit www.broadwayimpact.com.
Beautiful Soup Artistic Director Steven Carl McCasland directs, with Will Shuler serving as Musical Director. Hailli Ridsdale stage manages.
The limited engagement will play New York City’s Richmond Shepard Theatre (309 East 26th Street) from November 13th through November 24th.
