New York Yankees Legend Mariano Rivera to be Honored
The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter will hold their 19th Annual Lou Gehrig Sports Awards Benefit on Thursday, November 7th at 6:30PM at the New York Marriott Marquis (Broadway at 45th Street). Cocktails and silent auction begin at 6:30PM, followed by dinner and an awards presentation.
Honorees include New York Yankees pitching great Mariano Rivera, former New York Mets pitcher Ron Darling and former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms. The former New England Patriot Kevin Turner, who has ALS and is actively involved in ALS research, will also be honored. Jeremy Schaap will serve as the emcee.
As one of The ALS Association’s leading chapters, the Greater New York Chapter encompasses New York City, Long Island, WestchesterCounty, the HudsonValley, and Northern & Central New Jersey and plays a major role in promoting the mission to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS. The ALS Association is the only national non-profit health organization dedicated solely to fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front. The Association leads the way in research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy – providing help and hope to those facing the disease. ALSA is a member of the National Health Council.
