    Teachers College President Hosts Hillary Clinton Campaign Senior Policy Advisor For Frank Discussion On Education And 2016 Presidential Election

    Shining a spotlight on education, a topic that has yet to be at the forefront of the 2016 presidential election,Christopher Edley, Jr., senior policy advisor to the Hillary Clinton Campaign, will give insight on the candidate’s views and proposed policies during the Phyllis L. Kossoff Lecture on Education and Policy on Thursday, October 13, 6:30 p.m. in the Joyce B. Cowin Conference Center at Teachers College, Columbia University, 525 W. 120th St. (bet. Broadway & Amsterdam Ave.), Manhattan.

    For the third, consecutive presidential election Teachers College will host a conversation about the candidates’ views on education. Moderated by Teachers College President Susan Fuhrman, the event seeks to leverage the school’s position as a leader in education to lend its collective experience and expertise toward framing the national debate and elevating public discourse.

    Named for its creator, Phyllis L. Kossoff (MA ’48), the Phyllis L. Kossoff Lecture on Education Policy has helped distinguish Teachers College as the nation’s premier address for discussing and debating contemporary education issues. Previous Kossoff lecturers include: former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan; Jon Schnur and Phil Handy, top education advisers to President Barack Obama; Mitt Romney during the 2012 presidential campaign; former NY State Board of Regents Chancellor Merryl Tisch (EdD ’05); and most recently, NY State Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia.
