Everyone likes the stories of the innocent people behind bars who are exonerated. Innocence projects and exoneration initiatives abound, and law schools have developed projects and curricula focused on innocence. But has the focus on the actually innocent worked to the detriment of most people in the criminal justice system that, after all, are actually guilty. Let’s talk about that reality: the millions of prisoners who “did it,” but are in prison due to race, poverty, and overcriminalization.
Ronald L. Kuby is an American criminal defense and civil rights lawyer, radio talk show, host and television commentator. He has also hosted radio programs on WABC Radio in New York and Air America radio. Kuby currently leads the Law Office of Ronald L. Kuby in Manhattan.
