Sunday Meeting – Joe Chuman: Forgiveness
Sunday, April 8, 2018 – 11:00 am
2 West 64th Street
Ceremonial Hall – 4th floor
Forgiving and being forgiven are deep needs of the soul. Forgiveness is also a necessary and intrinsic aspect of the human condition, given that we all bring hurt to others in large and small ways for which we feel sorry, if not guilty. In return, being the object of injury generates feelings of resentment.
Resentment and guilt seek resolution, which in most cases only forgiveness can overcome. As vital as forgiveness in the lives of individuals and society, they is little discussion of it outside of religious circles. This platform will attempt to take a small step in redressing that imbalance as it explores important questions about our need to give, and to receive, forgiveness.
