Put pencil to paper and relax with drinks as Sketch & Sip returns to the Museum of the City of New York just in time for spring. Sketch and Sip is a sophisticated, participatory experience that combines drinking and socializing with an immersive tour of critically acclaimed Museum exhibitions. For the May 11 program, Simon Levenson, celebrated artist and instructor, will guide guests as they learn the techniques of sketching portraits and see how early American painters captured the likenesses of New York’s elite in the new exhibition Picturing Prestige: New York Portraits, 1700-1860.

Held directly in Museum galleries or on the beautiful MCNY terrace overlooking Central Park, Sketch & Sip allows art lovers to enjoy libations and learn to sketch in the presence of the landmarked building’s stately architecture, the hilariously touching cartoons of Roz Chast, or masterful portraits of Alexander and Eliza Hamilton.

Sketch & Sip offers a uniquely full experience, combining drinks and socializing with artistic and educational immersion.

Sketch & Sip is open to participants aged 21 & up, of all artistic abilities. Ticket includes two drinks (wine, beer, and soda will be served) and drawing materials for use during class time. Registration required.
