Sakura Matsuri at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
April 27 – 28, 2019
Brooklyn Botanic Garden
900 Washington Avenue
Brooklyn
This annual, highly anticipated event draws multitudes of attendees as we all gather in celebration of the season, the beautiful blossoms from/of the cherry trees and enjoy all the many Japanese cultural offerings.
From taiko drumming, other musical performances (indie , punk, pop genres and others), martial arts demonstrations to dance performances, Kabuki Buyo dance and much more.
One needs a ticket for either or both days and you can head on over to the official website to learn more. Members of the garden, as is the case with many other venues, get discounted access. Students and seniors get discounts as well.
Also, visit this page at the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation for info as well.
Please do keep in mind how this is merely a special event taking place over two days. You can always visit the garden on other days to experience the luscious pinks of the cherry blossoms as they’ll be in bloom for a period of time. We’ve done it repeatedly, paying close attention to the one day of the week when admission is free. Be sure to visit their site for details in that regard.
