Last Year’s Press Release:
Staten Island, NY – August 25, 2015 | Step right up folks! And watch your whiskers! You are ALL invited to one of New York City’s biggest, longest running and most well attended outdoor festivals. Be prepared when the 36th Annual Richmond County Fair rolls into Historic Richmond Town with more fun this Labor Day Weekend!
Here’s what we have for you, folks! Lots of fun around every corner. Come one. Come all.
Ladies, don’t get too close to the man who tosses fire. Or eats it. He’s a real barn burner. Boys and girls, can you outduel the guy in And 1 basketball? Keep your eye on the bouncing b-ball! Tots get your balloon twisted into almost anything… even Grandma. Dad, dad, uh, wake up…the mime has got you mesmerized. Don’t close your eyes or you’ll bump into the jugglers, stiltwalkers, flea circus, and clown. They own the streets!
“This year the Richmond County Fair begs you to dig into every nook and cranny. There’s fun stuff tucked into every corner. It’s a bit of an adventure,” explains Ed Wiseman, Executive Director of Historic Richmond Town. “We’ve supercharged the Fair so there’s more to discover – at the request of kids. Moms and Dads, you have to explore!”
And there’s lots to enjoy this year. Remember the Kruser-Finley House? It was severely damaged by a malicious fire just before the County Fair two years ago. Well, now it’s restored! The unveiling will be at this year’s Richmond County Fair! Tour inside and see how the house was damaged. Discover how 250 years of history was restored! Enjoy the final work. It’s worth the cost of admission. Our good friends NARI-HIC are back with more doghouses to auction off. Get one for your little doggie.
And speaking of animals… for the gentler of heart, there’s a new petting zoo and reptile show. Awwww.
Hold on! There’s much, much more…
New this year! Can you handle the US Army’s huge 75 foot simulator? Do you have what it takes? Enter if you dare. Be all you can be!
Ever wanted to race your own car? Yes, we have bumper cars and classic cars and new this year…Rock N Roll Racing. Race a model NASCAR against your friends on the mini speedway! Win the race and get a trophy. Mom and Dad, grab a checkered flag and cheer on the kids!
Next, hang onto your helmet! The Dial Action BMX Stunt show is ramped up with bigger tricks and an expanded show.
Richmond County Fair co-chair, Jerry Amerosi, is excited about the offerings this year, “Each year we try to make the Fair bigger and better. We do it to make families happy. But we also do it because it’s an important fundraiser for Historic Richmond Town and American history. We want you to come to the Fair knowing you’re participating in something worthwhile and we want you to have fun doing it.”
Keep reading folks, there’s still more…
Legos! Build your own! A new Lego area for kids so they can make their own rocket ship or maybe…their own Third County Courthouse!
Hello? Did we mention brand new rides and inflatables? Get rocking with the newbies along with your favorites like…the NYPD Rock Climbing Wall!
Hold on a sec! Get this. The Comic Club. Yes, swig some beer while laughing at guest comics throughout the weekend. No guffawing while your mouth is full of suds!
Are we done yet? No! Watch Rescue 5 perform a daring rescue as they pull apart a car wreck with their powerful jaws. These guys are real heroes.
Yes, a lot of new stuff for the whole family. But we haven’t forgotten your old favorites. You can always go back in time and experience our 19th century crafts: woodworking, tinsmithing, chair caning, hearth cooking, spinning and weaving.
Plus a handicraft contest! NYC Parks returns with a whole slew of county fair kids’ contests. And there’s always the hot dog & pie eating contests! Folks, this is the stuff bellyaches are made of. And then there’s the Boy Scouts with their classic Monkey Bridge and camping outfits.
Finally, for music lovers looking for a relaxing time, lift your feet onto the hay bale and enjoy four entertainment stages with music and performances to suit any style from Beatlemania to jug bands.
Here’s the best part about the Fair. Everything above is included FREE with your admission. That means you can spend the whole day and experience all those attractions over and over again for just $16. It won’t cost you a penny more. Unlimited! There’s no better bargain in NYC!
Wait…don’t leave yet…there’s even more… how about pony rides, fair food (funnel cake!), merchandise, giveaways, games of chance, and other oddities, curiosities and fun stuff.
The Richmond County Fair is the tradition that keeps getting better and better!
